To What Falls Between

Lbena T-Michael

To what falls between the cracks of the unknown

grows a seed of hope,

a breath of promise -

or the potential for it.

To the mysterious ways of the universe,

I choose to capitulate.

I choose to succumb to the warmth

from which we came -

our mother’s domain -

for that is all that we know.

And so, we are the very seed that grows

into a hope -

self-aware

of its becoming.

And yet, we choose destruction.

We choose manipulation.

Chaos.

I wonder -

Do we fear our own potential?

Fall victim to our own power?

And fall once again into the cracks of the unknown -

succumbing to the warmth of ruin.

Ruined.
