A Solace in Misery - a Truth No Longer

Lbena T-Michael

I gave into the temptation of misery.

There is a warmth in that place, you know.

A sincerity to tears

finding residency on my cheek,

surrendering to the laws of physics.

Gravity to the words you speak -

I pray to relinquish that power.

Almost like a force

the way my words are produced -

each syllable taunting my will.

I remain a canvas

to the paint brush of distress

colouring my pigment blue.

I exist within the confines of what you conceive

and only believe what’s left of me to be perceived.

Because of you,

misery,

the warmth you induce

has burned me.

Sorrow is no longer a refuge.

No peace exists here.
